Camomile Organic

Our camomile is organically grown in Egypt, its spiritual home. It is harvested by hand using a special comb that selects the biggest flowers, leaving the rest to grow on. It is then dried in hot air chambers in just 4 hours to preserve the flavour of the oils – a process that using conventional methods would take several days and allow the flavour to dissipate.

Really high quality camomile has a delicious scent of apples and quinces, traditionally valued for its soothing and relaxing properties.

The Egyptians dedicated it to their Gods as a cure for the ague. The Romans used it for incense and in the Middle Ages it was used as a “strewn herb” on the floors at public gatherings to help relieve the somewhat fetid atmosphere! The Anglo-Saxons knew it as Maythen and it was one of their nine sacred herbs.

Directions: Infuse freshly boiled water for 3 to 5 minutes according to taste.
