How to drink tea
Yes, we know, lift cup, tilt, sip, and swallow!
But to really enjoy tea and to let it work its magic on our souls we need to give it time, to appreciate it as we would a fine wine. By finding the time to do this you also create space in your day, a haven of peace and inner relaxation - the pause that refreshes!
The analogy between tea and wine is a close one. There are as many different words to describe the taste of tea as there are in the wine-taster’s lexicon.
Phrases like the wonderfully romantic “agony of the leaves’, used to describe the unfolding of leaves when hot water is added; words like “bloom” - a sheen that has not been removed by over-processing and “flush” - the new branch of a tea bush containing a full complement of young leaves.
Tea is enjoyed through its fragrance, texture and taste. When your tea is brewed, hold the cup under your nose, if it is a good tea you will enjoy a rich, fresh and complex fragrance.
If you use a glass cup (see our packaging) you will be able to appreciate the rich translucent colours, subtly different for every tea.
Now the taste. Sip. Hold it in your mouth. Contemplate it. Roll it round your tongue, and then swallow. Enjoy the relaxing feeling it gives. Savour its complexity. Good tea is smooth, mellow, rich and refreshing.
