The perfect cup
George Orwell once said that there are eleven rules for making the perfect cup of tea - this included six spoons of tea per pot, no sugar to be added and only Indian Assam tea to be used for the brew.
While we’re reluctant to disagree with such an eminent man, we would suggest that he was being somewhat narrow-minded in his set of diktats. He clearly ignored the fact that the British had been enjoying teas since the 1670s and had the good taste in the 18th and 19th centuries to drink mainly green and slightly fermented Oolong teas as their chosen brew!
We would agree however that there are some things you can do to achieve that elusive "perfect cuppa".
Each tea demands a slightly different approach to get the best out of it and we suggest you look at the individual tea pages on our website to find out the difference between brewing a green tea and a black tea, between Rooibos and white tea.
